Good morning

I have just become the care taker of the most beautiful well behaved M2 that anyone could imagine...Now you ask OH OH what is this crazy lady selling...Well she is all of the above unfortunatly she does have her problems she is a bit of a picker, seems to have lessened since she has come to me but we will see...She is also the worlds pickyest eater wants nothing but salt and sugar laden junk food and she is afraid of EVERY thing strange food strange people, toys loud noises, quiet noises you name it she probably will run to the back of her cage. I have not had experience with the M's I have had parakeets and small parrots over the years but nothing like this pretty girl. Oh she talks incessantly can ask how are you three dozen times in a row. Screams, yes, but only a couple of times a day and ignoring her works wonders for the moment. She came to me from a lady that had her as a 2nd owner for the last 10 years or so. From what I can gather she took "feed her whatever you eat" litterly and since she doesn't cook the poor bird has surrived on ff onion rings and ff potatos, white rice and cereal and canned veggies. Over the years she has been "played" with roughly, ie feather duster shoved in her face and has been allowed free run of the house and pretty much controlled it. Anyway the reason for my post is if any of you have words of wisdom or just plain encouragement to share I would be grateful. Tina and I are on a journey neither of us knows where it will go to but it will be a joyful one. As she is only 13 and I am 65 I know she will probably see yet another home in her lifetime I only hope I can make her a happy well adjusted M2 while she is with me. Thanks for listening Cheryl in HOT CA

Hi Cheryl, your new Girl Tini sounds like she is lucky she found her way to you. I bet it is somewhat strange to have such a big bird to take care of after only having little birds but it sounds like Tina is a good bird who is easy to take care of. I dont know much about pluckers and who knows maybe she was doing this out of boredom and because of her diet and time with you will help her stop picking her feathers.
